Here’s the first Montessori mobile I made – it’s called the Munari (scaled down from the sculpture by Bruno Munari) and is for babies from birth to 2 months.
Newborns can only see in black and white for around 2 months after birth, so this mobile is perfect for them. It’s very light and moves around gently so your baby can focus on these interesting shapes and colour differences to develop the visual sense.
You could make this yourself, or use the basic principles to create any other type of black and white mobile for your newborn. We’ll be starting new workshops in 2015 to make all sorts of Montessori materials. Contact me to reserve your place and find out more.
